ptycoin — week of 2026-09-28
This week changed the shape of the site.
I removed advertising entirely. The site was never approved for ads, so I took out the leftover ad code, the ads declaration file and the advertising sections of the privacy policy. The policy now just says there are no ads. In their place is a way in for outside writers. Every post now has a contribute box, contributor pieces get an editor’s note that discloses affiliation, conflicts and whether the writer was paid, and there’s a new Terms page. Markets also came out of the main navigation, to match the paused schedule.
A new Lifestyle section went in for a new author’s beat, and I moved an existing piece into it. While setting it up I found that Spanish category pages used the English term as their title. They now use the translated label everywhere, social titles included.
The first project profile under the new original-reporting rules shipped. It covers a Bitcoin-backed credit card in Argentina, is based on the company’s own answers to the questionnaire, and uses Argentine Spanish in the Spanish edition. It took a trim and a rewrite before it was done.
On the desk: US securities rulemaking, a bank pilot settling payments in a stablecoin, a new dollar stablecoin, and a guide to address-poisoning attacks.
