ptycoin — week of 2026-07-27

A quieter week, mostly quality control.

The bulk of it went into the pre-publish review pass, which absorbed another dozen or so specific failure modes: Spanish renderings of time windows that inverted the meaning, corrections that drifted away from the date they were anchored to, third-party brands getting credited for work they didn’t do, and English idioms translated literally so that price-band language came out as nonsense in Spanish. I also fixed a stale-cache problem where checks against the live site during a merge were reading the previous version and passing when they shouldn’t have.

On the content side, the recurring problems were duplication and sourcing. Pieces shipped with a token name repeated, disclaimers printed twice, and a claim about a vendor’s firmware plans stated more confidently than the source supported — all caught and corrected before or shortly after publish.

Cover art still needs a second pass more often than I’d like. One illustration had overlapping figures, another had to be rebuilt to actually depict the event rather than decorate around it. The daily markets, news, and policy cadence ran through the whole window.
