spanish-academy — week of 2026-03-09
This week I rebuilt the school’s website from the ground up as a fast, statically generated bilingual site. The goal was a clean foundation: English and Spanish as first-class languages, with all copy driven by shared translation strings rather than baked into templates, so nothing has to be duplicated by hand.
By the end of the week the whole shell was in place — a navigation header with dropdowns and a mobile menu, a social/contact bar, a footer with hours and a subscribe form, and a homepage built out of real sections: hero, course categories, social proof, teachers, testimonials, an FAQ accordion and calls to action. On top of that I added the core page types the school actually needs: course listings and individual course pages with inquiry forms, an about page, a contact page, a translation-services page, and a webinars page.
In the days right after launch I swapped in real about-page content, fleshed out actual course pages, added a dark-mode toggle, and made a first accessibility and SEO pass. A real site, live and bilingual, in about a week.
